NEW! FRESH SALADS MADE TO ORDER AT GOLD STAR CHILI

CINCINNATI, Ohio - (March 28, 2005) - Gold Star Chili introduces four fresh new salads to its menu this spring. Gold Star Chili’s new Salad Menu includes the Spring Harvest Salad, Café Salad, Caesar Salad and South of the Border Chili Salad. To provide even more variety and options, customers can choose from entrée- or half-size salads topped with either grilled or crispy chicken.

Gold Star Chili’s Salad Menu was created in response to consumer research evaluating customer’s interest and opinions about salads.

Before introducing the salads chainwide, Gold Star Chili tested the salads in its Arbor Square, Bellevue, Hebron and Mt. Washington locations and surveyed customer reactions. Key survey results included:

• 74% said GSC salads were of better quality than those form other quick serve restaurants such as McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Panera Bread and Frisch’s.
• 68% said GSC salads tasted better than salads from other quick serve restaurants.
• 63% said GSC salads were a better value than salads from other quick serve restaurants.
• 87% ranked GSC salads as excellent or very good
• 83% said they would definitely purchase the salad again at GSC
• 68% said they would definitely come to GSC more often if salads were a permanent menu item.
