Gold Star Chili Sponsors Safety Fair 2002 to benefit Tri State Schools

CINCINNATI, Ohio - (May 2, 2002) - On May 2, 2002, Gold Star Chili sponsored the annual Safety Fair with the Cincinnati Fire Division and the American Red Cross. At least 6,000 Tristate elementary school children from 18 schools attended the Safety Fair at Sawyer Point to learn about fire prevention and other safety.

Safety Fair featured:

  • S.A.F.E. houses - special houses that actually teach children kitchen safety, how to crawl under smoke and what to do if they wake up and hear the smoke alarm or smell smoke.
  • Fire Trucks and rescue units from fire houses throughout the Tristate.
  • "Stop, Drop & Roll" stations.
  • D.A.R.E. units
  • A robot that actually talks to kids about fire safety.
  • Educational stations from several fire houses.

"Children are one of the highest risk groups for fire," said Lori Busse, Director of Marketing. "Gold Star Chili believes in supporting fire safety education and Safety Fair is just one of the several year-round initiatives we sponsor in conjunction with the Cincinnati Fire Division and the Red Cross."
