THE TASTE THAT'S TAKING OVER HITS MAINEVILLE, OHIO

CINCINNATI, Ohio - (July 16, 2003) - Gold Star Chili is now serving its famous Cincinnati-style chili in Maineville.

Ginger Pierson and Dan Johnson, owners of the Maineville Gold Star Chili, opened their doors to local Boy Scout Pack 36, the Maineville firefighters, local VIPs and other special guests on the evening of July 14 for a special grand opening dinner and celebration. The restaurant opened to the public the following day.

A "Takeover Team" is chosen for every Gold Star Chili opening. A community or school group is chosen on the basis of service and outstanding accomplishment. Boy Scout Pack 36 was selected for the Maineville opening due to their efforts to collect food for the local food pantry, entertain at a local senior citizens center during the holidays and plant seedlings in a local park. More than 20 scouts, scout leaders and parents were in attendance, and participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony.

John Sullivan, president and chief executive officer of Gold Star Chili, joined in the VIP Night celebration by congratulating the Boy Scout’s on their achievements, introducing the owners, managers and staff to the community leaders in attendance, and expressing Gold Star Chili’s excitement about becoming a part of the growing Maineville community.

The Maineville Gold Star Chili is located at 17 US 22-3. The new restaurant seats more than 82 and features a drive-thru window. The new restaurant also features an expanded menu in addition to traditional Gold Star Chili favorites. Expanded menu items available at Maineville Gold Star Chili include cheeseburger, chili burger, grilled, BBQ, and crispy chicken sandwiches and a grilled chicken salad.

Taste tests conducted by the Cincinnati Enquirer and Cincinnati Magazine, as well as a large-scale taste test conducted by an independent research company indicates that the taste of Gold Star Chili is favored above all other local brands of Cincinnati-style chili.
