'THE TASTE THAT'S TAKING OVER'

IS ON THE MOVE IN HILLSBORO

Gold Star Chili relocates and rebuilds Hillsboro location

HILLSBORO, Ohio - (August 14, 2002) - The Hillsboro Gold Star Chili moved from the former location at 1105 Northview Drive to a new location on Harry Sauners Road. The new location opened to the general public on Wednesday, August 14, 2002 at 10:00 am.

Gold Star Chili relocated to 585 Harry Sauners Road, in the heart of the growing commerce area. "We felt the people of Hillsboro deserved a first class facility and the older building was not providing the level of service we wanted to offer to Hillsboro residents," stated Mark David, Franchise Owner. "The location on Harry Sauners was the first opportunity for us to make that change," continued David.

Gold Star Chili has been open for 15 years in Hillsboro, OH and the new location will offer enhanced convenience to its customers in terms of better street access, drive thru accessibility, and being located near the shopping and commerce district. "Today's society is busy and the ability to offer quick easy meal solutions is a success factor for any restaurant," stated David. "The new location gives us a competitive advantage in attracting the customer who wants fast service and convenience as well as great tasting food," continued David.

The new location will also include an updated décor, a larger kitchen for increased operating efficiency and will double the seating and parking spaces for dine in customers. "A beautiful and comfortable facility for our customers as well as a larger and more efficient area for our staff were key reasons in the decision to build instead of trying to remodel the existing store," stated David.

Televisions will entertain customers and provide a relaxing atmosphere along with the new mahogany interior design. Gold Star Chili's signature neon lighting will be added to the exterior of the building along with fresh landscaping.

On Tuesday, Aug. 13, Gold Star Chili held on open house and honored two local Boy Scout troops. The scouts participated in a "Team Take Over" at a special pre-opening VIP night, where there was a dinner for both troops, VIP guests and the media. Remarks by CEO John Sullivan, a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a celebration also took place that night.

Gold Star honored the Hillsboro Boy Scout troops 171 and 226 for their continuing work with the community. Troop 226 and Scoutmaster Melissa Schilling are involved in community service at Project Outreach, clothing drives, parades, tutoring, flag raisings, and serving a Christmas tea party at the Highland County Historical Society. Troop 171 and leader David Lowell volunteer at day camps, do numerous flag raisings, participate in service projects, and are always volunteering to help out the Hillsboro Lions Club.

Gold Star Chili was founded in 1965 and operates more than 100 restaurants in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. The Hillsboro location of Gold Star Chili has been a part of the community since 1987.
