GEORGETOWN SCHOOL LEADERS ARE OFFICIAL FIRST CUSTOMERS OF THE NEW GEORGETOWN GOLD STAR CHILI

CINCINNATI, Ohio - (October 12, 2004) - Celebrating over 20 years in Georgetown, Gold Star Chili unveiled its brand new location in the Georgetown Village Plaza on Monday, October 12, 2004.

Jerry David, franchise-owner of the Georgetown Gold Star Chili, invited the Georgetown High School Student Council and the Georgetown School District Leadership Team to "take over" the restaurant along with local officials and other special guests on the evening of October 11, 2004 for a special grand opening dinner and celebration. The restaurant officially opened to the public on October 12, 2004.

A "Take Over Team" is chosen for every new Gold Star Chili opening recognizing an organization that makes significant contributions to its community. Two groups from the Georgetown Schools were selected by the new Georgetown Gold Star Chili. The Georgetown High School Student Council is made up of 16 students elected by their fellow classmates. The council is dedicated to encouraging leadership among the high school students, improving the school, and recognizing individuals who demonstrate outstanding character.

The Georgetown School District Leadership Team is a group of teachers and administrators formed two years ago to serve as a liason between the school administration and teaching staff providing input on professional development, school activities, student issues and safety concerns. A major focus for this group has been to improve the quality of the district’s professional development program for its teaching staff. Over the past two years, the Leadership Team has made a direct impact in improving student test scores, elevating the quality of work students are given, and generating consistency across the school district. As a result of these initiatives, the Georgetown School District has moved from the Continuous Improvement category to the Effective category as recognized by the State of Ohio and the High School has achieved an Excellent rating from the State of Ohio.

The Georgetown Gold Star Chili is located in the Georgetown Village Plaza at 662 East State Road. The new restaurant seats 70 customers and offers a convenient drive-thru window. In addition to traditional Gold Star Chili favorites such as cheese coneys, 3-ways, Tex Mex Chili, nachos and chili cheese fries, the Georgetown Gold Star Chili features an expanded menu that includes cheeseburgers, chiliburgers, grilled, BBQ, and crispy chicken sandwiches and a grilled chicken salad.

Taste tests conducted by the Cincinnati Enquirer and Cincinnati Magazine, as well as a large-scale taste test conducted by an independent research company indicates that the taste of Gold Star Chili is favored above all other local brands of Cincinnati-style chili.
