Soldier Returns Home Making Tasty Request for Reception Gold Star Chili Donation Adds Flavor to Wedding Cincinnati, OH – January 20, 2007 – Sergeant Eric Stephan, U.S. Army Reserves, 558th Signal Company from Kings Mills and fiancé Sarah Foebar will marry today with a unique reception catered by Gold Star Chili. Gold Star Chili is donating all of the food in honor of Stephan’s duty in Iraq. Stephan, a fiber optic cable specialist, went on active duty in July 2005, deployed to Iraq in December 2005 and returned home in December, 2006. Upon his return, his one request was that they serve Gold Star Chili at his wedding reception. “Eric has a true love for Gold Star Chili and he has been craving this taste of home while in Iraq,” said Foebar. “This is a wonderful way to welcome him home and we are thrilled that Gold Star Chili is making the donation in honor of Eric.” The couple met at Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, OH. While dating in college, Foebar and Stephan created many memorable moments at Gold Star Chili. By having Gold Star Chili cater their wedding, the couple can now share a flavor of their relationship with their guests. “Portsmouth does not have a Gold Star Chili location so we would often travel about an hour to pick up Coney Crates and bring them back to school,” said Stephan. “We introduced many of our college friends to Gold Star Chili. This is a great way for us to share a unique part of our relationship with our friends and family on our special day.” In addition to Stephan, many other Cincinnati men and women serving overseas request Cincinnati style chili upon their return home. Therefore, Gold Star Chili continues its support of soldiers separated from their families and friends by hosting a homecoming party called Serving the Troops. Gold Star Chili is grateful to the men and women in all branches of the military who serve our country. As part of the program, Gold Star Chili provides a free meal for the honoree and up to 5 guests, a cake, a welcome home gift, a welcome home banner, decorations & balloons.
