Gold Star Chili Encourages Fans to “Get Lost In The Taste”
Campaign Includes New Menu Choices, Song Writing Contest and TV/Radio Spots Featuring Cincinnati-area Bands

March 30, 2007 – CINCINNATI, OH – Gold Star Chili is encouraging its customers to “Get Lost in the Taste” with a new campaign launching April 2 that includes new menu choices, a song-writing contest and television/radio ads featuring Cincinnati-area bands.

To kick off the campaign, new radio and television advertisements will feature four popular local Cincinnati bands, each of which has recorded a Gold Star Chili song that will highlight radio and TV commercials in the coming months. The local bands are Buckra, The Newbees, 46 Long and The Whitney Barricklow Band.

At the same time, Gold Star is encouraging aspiring singers and songwriters – young and old – who love the taste of Gold Star Chili to show-off their talents by writing a song about it. The winning contestant will receive $1,000, and his or her song may be featured in a future Gold Star Chili commercial.

“People throughout the Tri-State really take their Gold Star Chili seriously,” said Lori Busse Hubbard, director of marketing for Gold Star Chili. “This campaign celebrates that passion and energy people have for our chili and gives them a way to express it with a song. We’re excited to see the creativity and enthusiasm that our faithful customers will bring to the contest.”

Starting April 4, entrants can write and submit a song about Gold Star Chili that is between 30 seconds and two minutes long. The song must include the name “Gold Star Chili,” and the verse “Get Lost in the Taste” must appear at least once in the song. Songs may be entered online at www.goldstarchili.com or by mail (to: Gold Star Chili “Get Lost in the Taste” Contest, 814 Plum Street, Cincinnati, OH 45202). Contestants may submit as many songs as desired *. Song performances must be recorded using audio only (mp3 format with maximum file size of 2 MB) or video (mpeg or avi formats with maximum file size of 50 MB).

Three New Burritos
To help customers get lost in the taste, Gold Star Chili is also adding three new burritos to its menu on April 16:

  • Crispy Chicken Burrito—Hearty big burrito stuffed with seasoned, breaded chicken breast and topped with lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese and chipotle ranch sauce.
  • Chili Beef Burrito—Big burrito full of ground beef flavored with Gold Star Chili spices plus lettuce, tomato, beans, cheddar cheese and tasty chipotle ranch sauce.
  • Grilled Chicken Burrito—Hearty burrito filled with seasoned, grilled chicken breast and lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese and chipotle ranch sauce.

ABOUT GOLD STAR CHILI
Gold Star Chili was established in 1965 when the four Daoud brothers were embarking on a journey that would soon embody the Great American Dream of owning a successful business. The first store location was erected in Mt. Washington, and it was here that the brothers settled on what has become one of Cincinnati's classic tastes, and the recipe for Cincinnati-style chili was born. To this day, the spice blend is a closely guarded secret. Gold Star now has more than 100 restaurants located throughout Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana and operates concessions at Paul Brown Stadium, Children's Hospital, and the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. To join the Gold Star Chili eClub or for more information, please visit www.goldstarchili.com.
