Gold Star Chili Teams Up with The Thank You Foundation to Provide Soldiers a Day at the Ball Park
Military Personnel Receive a Free Meal at Gold Star Chili and a Pair of Tickets to a Cincinnati Reds Game
May 2, 2007 – CINCINNATI, OH –
Gold Star Chili is partnering with The Thank You Foundation to present “Tickets for Troops,” a program that provides local military service men and women with a free meal at Gold Star Chili and a pair of Cincinnati Reds tickets.
Starting May 4 and running through September 29, 64 Cincinnati Reds home game tickets will be given to pre-selected military personnel from the tri-state area who recently served in Iraq or Afghanistan. The Thank You Foundation will present the tickets to recipients and their guests at the Gold Star Chili restaurant in Covington.
“Gold Star Chili is a Cincinnati icon and has a great track record of recognizing and appreciating our military troops,” said John Guinn, president and founder of The Thank You Foundation, a Lebanon-based non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of the men and women in the United States Armed Forces past and present. “This program is yet another way that Gold Star has stepped up to help our community, and something as simple as a meal and a Reds game will make for some special evenings this summer for our service members.”
The “Tickets for Troops” initiative complements Gold Star’s current “Serving Our Troops” efforts. “Serving Our Troops” is a year-old program that provides welcome home receptions and free meals for soldiers returning to Cincinnati after serving overseas.
“We are thrilled to be teaming up with The Thank You Foundation to show our appreciation to the military men and women who have recently completed their tour of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan,” Lori Busse Hubbard said. “And because May is National Military Appreciation Month this is the perfect time to say thanks in a big way.”

ABOUT GOLD STAR CHILI
Gold Star Chili was established in 1965 when the four Daoud brothers were embarking on a journey that would soon embody the Great American Dream of
owning a successful business. The first store location was erected in Mt. Washington, and it was here that the brothers settled on what has become one of Cincinnati's classic tastes, and the recipe for Cincinnati-style chili was born. To this day, the spice blend is a closely guarded secret. Gold Star now has more than 100 restaurants located throughout Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana and operates concessions at Paul Brown Stadium, Children's Hospital, and the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.
