Hamilton’s Gold Star Chili Locations to Donate Proceeds to Family of Injured Firefighter CINCINNATI, OH—May 11, 2007—Gold Star Chili’s Hamilton locations will be demonstrating their support for a local firefighter by donating 10 percent of the day’s sales on Wednesday, May 16, to the Chris Gabbard Family Fund. Chris Gabbard, 32, was critically injured in a water-related training exercise April 17 on the Great Miami River. The married father of two remains hospitalized and faces a long rehabilitation. The Hamilton Fire Department established the Chris Gabbard Family Fund to help alleviate the family's financial burden. The two Gold Star Chili locations in Hamilton, at 1700 South Erie Boulevard and 1246 Main Street, will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and will be accepting donations to the Fund in addition to the percentage of sales. “We’re proud to have the opportunity to work with the Hamilton Fire Department and the Chris Gabbard Family Fund,” said Joe Hiresh, franchise owner of the Route 4 Gold Star Chili location. “We appreciate the critical service that our firefighters provide and join with the local community to provide our support.” ABOUT GOLD STAR CHILIGold Star Chili was established in 1965 when the four Daoud brothers were embarking on a journey that would soon embody the Great American Dream of owning a successful business. The first store location was erected in Mt. Washington, and it was here that the brothers settled on what has become one of Cincinnati's classic tastes, and the recipe for Cincinnati-style chili was born. To this day, the spice blend is a closely guarded secret. Gold Star now has more than 100 restaurants located throughout Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana and operates concessions at Paul Brown Stadium, Children's Hospital, and the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.
