More than 60 Local Fire Houses to Promote Fire Safety at Gold Star Chili Locations
Fire Fighter Education Night designed to reach children, families

CINCINNATI, OH – [August 13, 2007] – Kids and families from across the Tri-State will have the opportunity to learn more about fire safety on Tuesday, August 14, when fire fighters from more than 60 local fire houses participate in Fire Fighter Education Night (FFEN) at local Gold Star Chili locations.

From 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., fire fighters from Hamilton, Butler, Warren, Clermont, Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties will be on hand to share educational materials and display fire fighting equipment.

FFEN is the only region-wide, coordinated effort of its kind and enables local fire fighters to encourage fire prevention and safety through personal interaction.

The event is being held in conjunction with Gold Star Chili’s weekly Kid’s Night, where kids age 10 and under eat free on Tuesdays when accompanied by an adult who purchases a combo meal.

"Fire Fighter Education Night is a region-wide effort teaching the importance of fire safety. Our goal is to equip families and children with the necessary knowledge of what to do in the event of a fire emergency," said fire prevention specialist, Bobby Smith. "Gold Star’s involvement in Fire Fighter Education Night has greatly helped to support our efforts."

Gold Star Chili is a local leader in fire prevention and education initiatives, sponsoring Super Safety Saturday with the American Red Cross and Safe Summer Nights with the Cincinnati Fire Division.  Gold Star also honors the Greater Cincinnati Fire House of the Year in cooperation with Tri-State Fire Safety Association.

"Gold Star Chili is proud to support Fire Fighter Education Night for the sixth consecutive year," said John Sullivan, chief executive officer of Gold Star Chili. "This program empowers children and families by giving them knowledge and awareness of fire prevention and safety issues."

ABOUT GOLD STAR CHILI
Gold Star Chili was established in 1965 when the four Daoud brothers were embarking on a journey that would soon embody the Great American Dream of owning a successful business. The first Gold Star Chili was located in Mt. Washington, and it was here that the brothers settled on what has become one of Cincinnati's classic tastes, and the recipe for Cincinnati-style chili was born. To this day, the spice blend is a closely guarded secret. Gold Star now has more than 100 restaurants located throughout Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana and operates concessions at Paul Brown Stadium, Children's Hospital, and the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.
